Agate Beads

Agate Beads

Agate is a variety of chalcedony, a cryptocrystalline form of quartz. Translucency, patterns of colour, or moss-like inclusions may distinguish this stone from other forms of chalcedony. Agate is usually banded. The bands can be multi-coloured or of the same colour. Varieties of this gemstone are described by their colour patterns, inclusions, or source. Mohs’ hardness – 6.5 to 7. The name agate is supposedly derived from the river Achates (now called the Drillo) in Sicily.

Agate promotes inner stability, composure, and maturity. Its warm, protective properties encourage security and self-confidence. Agate is useful as a protection amulet when traveling.
